ZZGOD — The Rules
One world. One grid. Many gods.
ZZGOD is a shared god simulator. You and everyone else take turns glitching into a tiny persistent universe to reshape reality. Draw sprawling pixel labyrinths, redesign the fabric of matter, or invert the colors of existence.
Then—60 seconds later—you’re ripped back out, and the next god steps in.
The World
The universe of ZZGOD is a 36x36 tile grid (288x288 pixels), rendered through a gritty CRT-style viewport with scanlines and vignette glow.
- 16-Color Palette: The palette itself is part of the world. Any god can redefine these colors at any time, shifting the world from neon-on-black to pastel pinks or blood reds.
- 64 Shared Tile Types: Every tile is an 8x8 pixel drawing. If you redesign "Tile #47," every instance of that tile across the entire world updates instantly.
- Persistent Chaos: The world never resets. Every change stacks on the last. The little creatures living inside? They just have to deal with it.
How to Play (The God Loop)
1. Spectating
When you arrive, you are a spectator. Watch the world evolve in real-time, study the terrain, and plan your moves. A countdown shows how long until the next god is chosen.
2. God Mode (60 Seconds)
When the timer hits zero, a random spectator is chosen as GOD. You have one minute to:
- Place Tiles: Paint the 36x36 grid by clicking and dragging.
- The Architect: Use the 8x8 pixel editor to redesign any of the 64 tile types.
- The Palette: Redefine the 16 core colors of reality.
- Rename the World: Leave your mark on history by renaming the universe.
3. The Ejection
Time’s up. You are instantly cycled back to spectator mode, and a new god takes your place. No grace period. No extensions.
The Meeples
You are not alone. The world is inhabited by Meeples—tiny autonomous pixel creatures.
- Autonomous Life: They wander, congregate, and age. You cannot control them; you can only change the world around them.
- Moods: Their behavior changes based on their mood (Dormant, Calm, Content, Restless, Excited, or Frenzied).
- Interact: Click a meeple to "pet" it and boost its mood.
- Life & Death: Population grows over time, but meeples age (1 real day = 1 game year). They can live past 100, but death becomes inevitable.
Etiquette (The Unwritten Rules)
ZZGOD is a conversation, not a monument.
- Leave something interesting. Try to leave the world better (or weirder) than you found it.
- Embrace impermanence. Whatever you build will eventually be destroyed. That’s the point.
- Respect the meeples. They live here. You don’t. Give them room to roam.
You are temporary. The world is forever. Make your 60 seconds count.
